Building an Operations Console for Test Visibility and Automation

Overview

Contributed to the design and development of an internal Operations Console that provided centralized visibility into device testing activities across the platform.

The objective was to help operations, engineering, and leadership teams understand which devices were running which tests and scripts, track execution status, and reduce the manual effort involved in monitoring test infrastructure.

The Problem

As the testing platform scaled, teams were running a growing number of automated and manual tests across multiple devices.

However, visibility into platform activity was fragmented.

Teams faced challenges such as:

  • Limited visibility into test execution across devices

  • Difficulty tracking which scripts were running where

  • Manual effort required to investigate test activity

  • Delays in identifying operational bottlenecks

  • Lack of a centralized view for stakeholders

As platform usage increased, operational monitoring became increasingly complex.

The Opportunity

The challenge was not simply displaying test results.

The real opportunity was creating operational visibility across the testing ecosystem.

A centralized console could help teams:

  • Monitor platform activity in real time

  • Improve operational efficiency

  • Reduce troubleshooting effort

  • Enable faster decision-making

  • Support scaling of testing operations

My Approach

Worked closely with engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to understand:

  • How testing workflows were managed

  • Information required by different user groups

  • Common operational pain points

  • Reporting and visibility gaps

Mapped the end-to-end lifecycle of test execution to identify the most critical information needed for monitoring and decision-making.

The Solution

Contributed to the development of an Operations Console that provided:

  • Centralized visibility into device utilization

  • Tracking of test and script execution across devices

  • Real-time operational monitoring

  • Consolidated reporting views

  • Faster access to execution and platform activity data

The console became a single source of truth for understanding platform operations and test execution activity.

Impact
