Overview
GreenOps was a side project focused on understanding how organizations can operationalize sustainability initiatives through better data visibility, workflow management, and performance tracking.
The project allowed me to explore the intersection of sustainability, enterprise software, and product management.
The Problem
Many organizations have sustainability goals but struggle to translate them into measurable operational activities.
Common challenges include:
Fragmented sustainability data
Manual reporting processes
Limited visibility into environmental initiatives
Difficulty measuring progress against sustainability objectives
As a result, sustainability often remains disconnected from day-to-day business operations.
The Opportunity
The project explored how product thinking could be applied to sustainability challenges.
Instead of treating sustainability as a reporting function, I investigated how organizations could use workflows, analytics, and structured data to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
My Approach
As part of this side project, I researched:
Sustainability reporting workflows
ESG and environmental data challenges
Operational bottlenecks in sustainability programs
Enterprise software approaches to governance and measurement
I analyzed how workflow automation and centralized visibility could help organizations better manage sustainability initiatives.
The Product Concept
GreenOps was envisioned as a platform that could:
Centralize sustainability-related information
Track environmental metrics and initiatives
Improve reporting consistency
Provide visibility into sustainability performance
Support decision-making through structured analytics
Key Insights
Through this exploration, I learned that sustainability challenges are often less about reporting and more about operational execution.
Organizations need systems that connect:
Goals
Actions
Measurement
Accountability
rather than isolated reporting tools.
Why This Project Matters
This project helped me deepen my understanding of:
Sustainability technology
Enterprise workflows
Data governance
Analytics platforms
Product discovery and market research
It also reinforced a broader theme that continues across my work: The most valuable products help organizations make better decisions by connecting data, workflows, and human behavior.
