Overview
Led the strategy and launch of User APIs that transformed Gainsight from a closed application into a more extensible platform.
The Problem
Customers increasingly expected Gainsight to integrate seamlessly into their technology ecosystems.
However:
User Management required manual effort
Integration options were limited
Enterprise IT teams faced operational friction
This created barriers to adoption and scale.
The Opportunity
The problem was not user management.
The problem was platform extensibility.
By exposing core functionality through APIs, customers could automate workflows and integrate Gainsight into existing systems.
My Approach
Worked with Customers, Solution Architects, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to identify:
Most requested integrations
Common user lifecycle workflows
Enterprise automation requirements
Prioritized capabilities that delivered immediate operational value.
The Solution
Launched User APIs Supporting:
User Provisioning
User Updates
User Deactivation
Integration with customer identity systems
Created documentation and onboarding resources to accelerate adoption.
Impact
Improved customer satisfaction (NPS increased from 31 to 73)
Reduced administrative effort
Strengthened platform adoption
Increased ecosystem integration opportunities
Key Learning
APIs are not technical features.
They are product capabilities that enable customers to scale.
